What is the internet? Well, the answer you would receive all depends on the person you ask. For myself, I would say that it is a vast collection of information that has been proven throughout the years, opinions from individuals who choose to state how they feel rather than admit the truths to situations, or the unknown which is a place that many people know how to use the internet but do not know the full extent of it.

Now I would be cliche and state that the internet is everywhere, but the truth of the matter is it’s not. The Internet has to be set up in areas with acceptable connections in order to connect yourself to the world wide web. However, more areas are well connected with the internet rather than not, which tips the ratio that there are more internet users than not users.

Although the internet can be beneficial, it can be a little too helpful. Some areas of the internet are monitored with that being said individuals are free to post questionable information that is taken out of context which could lead to unsightly consequences. Although I think the internet is a good thing, it can also be a bit unsettling to know that there are limitations to our control over it as opposed to someone who has the more technical knowledge and who is better at navigating the web than anyone else with negative intentions.

One thing that comes into mind when discussing the internet would be Carr stating that the internet is making us dumb. In a way, I can understand this because we are more likely to look something up before trying to recall the information on our own. Yet, when searching that said topic, there are slippery slopes that can lead you to not only reestablish a connection with stored knowledge but gain more information in the process as well. Due to reasons like these, I believe that the internet has become so much more than just a hub of informational connections or a way for us to maintain communication with friends and family across the globe.
