The internet as I know it is based on the collection of information we have either learned or will learn in the future. With the subjects we want to learn more about, we have it starred and will be reviewed later. With that starred object, we can pick up where we left off instead of stumbling upon something new. Hence why I have the moon and star model for my project, for I think it sums up how some people view the internet. The moon represents the internet as the center of command that serves as the directory to links. The stars represent the sites that are available because they surround the internet to be extensions to be used. The ribbon represents the links that have been starred that connect the sites to the internet, forming an instant interconnection for the link that is most needed at that said time.
The internet has layouts that should cater to the individual who seeks out knowledge from the internet. I say knowledge a lot as for a reason of using the internet but there are many uses of the internet including informational purposes and entertainment-wise. As for who lives within the internet who knows, I can tell you that people do live through the internet. By blogging, writing articles, recording videos, and even posting pictures, people can show how they live their lives from across the world, connecting with people without ever meeting them.
Coming back round to Nicholas Carr’s “Is Google Making Us Stupid” I can see that within his negative outlook on how the internet is altering our brains it is easy to disagree that all of his points are worth taking to heart. Carr is correct that our brain is being rewired but it’s not as bad as it seems. We are now going to the internet often yes, not because we are dependent on it for all the answers, but instead, we are programming ourselves to search for the truth about a subject rather than guess on the topic and be completely wrong.
As a final note, I did not label areas where the internet was used as an extension. People learn about different subjects and therefore I will only need a larger model in order to have everything starred for subjects people focus heavily on. As you can see, I left the color scheme black and white, because not everything found on the internet is intended to be used in the safest way. My opinion of the internet is as follows: although I know we are able to learn new things faster through the internet, I also believe it can be dangerous if not properly monitored.
