First and foremost I would like to give full-time gaming creators their props! It makes me appreciate the in-depth games I usually play with excellent graphics. I chose the site Scratch to create my small game because it was easier to follow the tutorials provided. It was one of the more straightforward options and seemed to cater to the individuals who are just starting out with coding.

I based my game on the simpler ones that I play when I need a small break in between studying. Simple games where you have to click balloons to pop them or click on certain items to gain points at the end. Games like these help me rest all while keeping my brain working and focus for when I need to get back on task without becoming too involved in the game and disregarding the assignment altogether. I liked the island background and thought “Why not a treasure collection game?”. So from there, I used the Cat sprite to add a cute character that would make the game approachable and began coding different jewels to gain the ability to accumulate points.

I honestly never seen myself doing something like this but I’m glad to be given the opportunity to do so. I will admit I did get frustrated when my first attempts did not go right the first time, however, after looking outside of Scratch tutorials and finding some helpful ones on youtube the process did become easier. All in all, I did find that creating a game was fun and with the powers of determination and tutorials, I would gladly attempt another one.
